Halloween 2011
Well, the pumpkins have been picked and carved and the costumes are complete -- all that is left is the gathering of the candy. It is going to be a cold night trick or treating -- definatly will be dressed in layers but thankful there is no snow here like in some parts of the country! Went for the handmade costumes this year --- the cowgirl was sewed and for the hippie, knitted the poncho (twice! first time I made it too big!), tie-dyed the shirt, transformed regular jeans into bell-bottoms with patches and made the scarf -- it was a fun project.

October Fun
Something about going to the farm and picking your pumpkin off the vine that just makes October great. Despite my fall allergies, autumn is my very favorite time of the year. Yesterday was a bit warm, but other than that, a picture perfect fall day -- the leaves and fields were brilliant colors of golds and reds and contrasted against the bright blue sky -- it was spectacular. We enjoyed seeing the farm animals, riding on a hay wagon, finding our way through a corn maze and choosing the perfect pumpkins from the field. I was fascinated by the corn maze -- I had never been in one before (this one was very easy to navigate -- not too many dead ends) but the size of the corn! At least 10 feet tall! I was also taken with the root structure that holds the cornstalks at the ground. Very cool.
